Margarete Steiff was born in 1847. At 18 months old, she contracted polio, and was to spend her life in a wheelchair. When this remarkable woman became a skilled seamstress, little did she know she was building an international firm that would thrive for more than 140 years.

12"/30cm,2022, Made from wavy cream mohair, brown floss hand stitched nose and mouth, dark safety eyes, shaved muzzel, beige suede paw pads with the foot pads  imprinted with Margarete's birth date on the left foot pad with the birth date written in the European style, day date first then the month and year. Margarete's signature is on the right foot pad . This elegant bear wears a double neck ribbon, one blue stain ribbon and the other a lacy flower embroidered white ribbon, around her neck is a cameo styled pendant with the Steiff Company logo from 1897 made in the same blue color as one of the neck ribbons.  Fully jointed, certificate and made in Germany.
